December 31st 2024 Current Affairs : The Indian Army has unveiled a statue of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji near Pangong Lake, close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Situated at an altitude of 14,300 feet, this installation by the Fire and Fury Corps on December 26, 2024, symbolizes valor, vision, and justice. The statue underscores India’s strategic and cultural presence near the India-China border. Inaugurated by Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, SC, SM, VSM, GOC Fire and Fury, it complements enhanced infrastructure for mobility, surveillance, and defense. Following military and diplomatic talks, both nations completed disengagement on Pangong Tso’s north and south banks in 2021.
