ಸುಕ್ರಜ್ಜಿ ಎಂದೇ ಖ್ಯಾತರಾಗಿರುವ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಜಾನಪದ ಗಾಯಕಿ ಸುಕ್ರಿ ಬೊಮ್ಮ ಗೌಡ ಅವರು ವಯೋಸಹಜ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಂದ ಬಳಲಿ 88ನೇ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಹಲೋಕ ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ಅಂಕೋಲಾ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಬಡಿಗೇರಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದವರಾದ ಇವರು ಹಾಲಕ್ಕಿ ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗ ಬುಡಕಟ್ಟು ಜನಾಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದವರಾಗಿದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಸುಮಧುರ ಕಂಠದಿಂದ “ಜಾನಪದ ಕೋಗಿಲೆ” ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಜಾನಪದ ಸಂಗೀತಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು 2017 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಿದೆ. ಅವರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ (1988), ಜಾನಪದ ಶ್ರೀ (1999), ನಾಡೋಜ ಗೌರವ (2006), ಸಂದೇಶ ಕಲಾ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ನುಡಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ (2009) ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಹಲವಾರು ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು.
February 14th 2025 Current Affairs : Renowned folk singer Sukri Bomma Gowda, popularly known as Sukriji, has passed away at the age of 88 after battling age-related health issues. A native of Badigeri village in Ankola taluk, Uttara Kannada district, she belonged to the Halakki Vokkaliga tribe and was often referred to as the “Folk Cuckoo” for her melodious voice. Recognizing her contributions to folk music, the Government of India honored her with the Padma Shri award in 2017. She also received numerous accolades, including the Karnataka Government Award (1988), Janapada Shri (1999), Nadoja Honor (2006), Sandesh Kala Award, and Alva’s Nudisi Award (2009), for preserving tribal culture.

After the term of the previous Governor Shaktikanta Das, Sanjay Malhotra has taken over as the new Governor. It has been said that there will be no changes in this, only the signature of the Governor will be changed and it will circulate in the markets again with the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. The RBI has announced that the old notes will be in circulation as usual and will continue to circulate without any problem until the new notes are introduced in the market. The people of the country need not fear anything.
