July 10th 2024 Current Affairs : BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has announced Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of Team India after Rahul Dravid. Former opener and IPL champion coach Gambhir will lead the team for 3.5 years till December 2027. His tenure includes major ICC tournaments like 2025 Champions Trophy, 2025 T20 World Cup, 2026 Home T20 World Cup and 2027 ODI World Cup. Additionally, Gambhir will face significant challenges in the Test series against Australia and England. His first assignment as head coach is the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, which will include 3 T20s and 3 ODIs from July 27.

July 10th 2024 Current Affairs : Vinesh Phogat won the gold medal at the Spain Grand Prix in the women’s 50 kg category on 6 July. The Indian wrestler started his dominant run with a 12-4 win over Pan American champion Yusnelis Guzman of Cuba. Vinesh Phogat, the two-time World Championship bronze medalist, showed off her extraordinary skills by defeating Maria Tyumerekova 10-5 in the final. En route to the final, Vinesh defeated Canada’s Katie Duchak 9–4 in the semifinals. Next, Vinesh will leave for France for a 20-day intensive training camp to better his preparations for the Paris Olympics.

Her exceptional performance in the T20 World Cup earned her the honour. Bumrah took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy of 4.17, also winning the Man of the Series award. Smriti Mandhana won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for June, beating Maya Bouchier and Vishmi Gunaratne. Her best performance in the ODI series against South Africa in Bangalore, where she scored 343 runs at an average of 114.33, led to her selection.
