ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷ ಜುಲೈ 1 ರಂದು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವೈದ್ಯರ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ದಿನವು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ವೈದ್ಯರಾದ ಡಾ. ಬಿದಾನ್ ಚಂದ್ರ ರಾಯ್ ಅವರ ಜನ್ಮ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಡಾ. ರಾಯ್ ಅವರು ಕೇವಲ ನಿಸ್ಸೀಮ ವೈದ್ಯರಾಗಿರದೆ, ಪಾಶ್ಚಾತ್ಯ ಲೆಕ್ಕಪದ್ಧತಿ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಅವರು ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದ ಎರಡನೇ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ನೀಡಿದ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳು ಅಪಾರವಾಗಿವೆ, ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಲು ಈ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ವೈದ್ಯರ ದಿನದ ಮಹತ್ವ:
ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವೈದ್ಯರ ದಿನವು ವೈದ್ಯರು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ತ್ಯಾಗ, ಸೇವೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವತೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ದಿನವು ವೈದ್ಯರ ಕೆಲಸ ಮತ್ತು ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಲು, ಹಾಗೂ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ಮಹತ್ವದಾಗಿದೆ.
ಡಾ. ಬಿದಾನ್ ಚಂದ್ರ ರಾಯ್:
ಡಾ. ಬಿದಾನ್ ಚಂದ್ರ ರಾಯ್ ಅವರು 1882 ರ ಜುಲೈ 1 ರಂದು ಜನಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು 1962 ರ ಜುಲೈ 1 ರಂದು ನಿಧನರಾದರು. ಅವರು ಕೇವಲ ಉತ್ತಮ ವೈದ್ಯರಾಗಿರದೆ, ಭಾರತೀಯ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಂಘವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮಂಡಳಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಆದರ್ಶಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸೇವೆಗಳು ಅನೇಕ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗಳ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ವೃತ್ತಿಪರರನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ.
