June 9th 2024 Current Affairs : Surekha Yadav, also known as Asia’s first loco pilot, who is the country’s first woman loco pilot to fly a semi-high speed train between Sollapur station and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in India’s Mumbai state, will attend Prime Minister Modi’s swearing-in ceremony, a Central Railway Department official said. She has received state level awards. Modi, who will be the third prime minister, will be sworn in on June 9 and Asia’s first loco pilot, Surekha Yadav, will also be present at the event. Yadav will be the first woman loco pilot of the semi-high speed Vande Bharat Express. Born in Satara in the western Maharashtra region, Yadav was selected as India’s first woman train driver in 1988.

June 9th 2024 Current Affairs : On June 6 the UN General Assembly (UNGA) elected former Cameroonian Prime Minister Philemon Yang as the President of the 79th UNGA session. Yang will take over from Denis Francis of Trinidad and Tobago, President of the 78th UNGA Session, when the 79th UNGA Session begins on September 10 at UN Headquarters in New York. The session also elected the bureaus of six major committees and five non-permanent members of the Security Council for the next two years. Philemon Yang served as Prime Minister of Cameroon from 2009 to 2019 and as Grand Chancellor of National Orders in the Presidency of the Republic since 2020. Philemon Yang was Cameroon’s High Commissioner to Canada from 1984 to 2004 and has been the Chairperson of the African Union’s Committee of Eminent Africans since February 2020. The theme of the 79th UNGA session is “For Unity in Diversity, Peace, Sustainable Development and the Advancement of Human Dignity for All Everywhere”.

These two new protected areas are located within the Jazza forest range of Jamui district. The region is covered by drought-tolerant deciduous forests and hills,” said Bihar’s Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (DEFCC) Secretary Bandhana Preyashi. India added Bihar’s Nagi and Nakti bird sanctuaries to the list of ‘Ramsar Sites’, increasing the number to 82. Added to the Ramsar sites list, the Nakti Bird Sanctuary was developed mainly for irrigation by the construction of the Nakti Dam, the reservoir and its surroundings are home to more than 150 species of birds, mammals, aquatic plants, snakes and amphibians.

Oleg Kononenko is a very experienced cosmonaut who has participated in many space missions. His achievement is considered a significant step towards space research and experience. The milestone was reached during Kononenko’s fifth mission to the International Space Station (ISS), which began in September, Roscosmos announced. Oleg, a key member of the Russian space program, has set a new milestone by being in space continuously for 1,000 days. During this period, he was involved in many scientific experiments, space fleet management and international cooperation activities. His achievement will inspire future generations of astronauts. In 2011, Spektr-R, Russia’s first major space telescope since the Soviet era, was launched. Oleg Kononenko’s extraordinary achievement has written a new chapter in space science.
