October 29th 2024 Current Affairs : Kannada film Kerebate has been selected in the Indian Panorama Feature Film category for the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be held in Goa. Directed by Rajguru, Kerebete is one of the two Kannada films selected for the 55th IFFI, scheduled from November 20 to 28, along with Venkya directed by Sagar Puranik. It was a proud moment for Kannada cinema as Kerebete stood out among 384 film entries, 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films in total. The Hindi film Pradhantha Veer Savarkar opens the Indian Panorama section, followed by Kerebete as the second screening. Produced by Janamana Cinemas, this debut film aptly showcases the upland fish hunting culture and captures rural life. Kerebete released nationwide on March 15, starring Gauri Shankar in the lead, with a strong cast including Gopal Deshpande, Sampath Kumar Harini, and Bindu Gowda, a notable addition to Kannada cinema.

October 29th 2024 Current Affairs : Rachel Gupta, a 20-year-old from Jalandhar, Punjab, has made history as the first Indian and third Asian to win the prestigious Miss Grand International 2024 crown. The grand event took place at the MGI Hall in Bangkok, Thailand, where Rachel triumphed over strong contenders, including favorite Christine Julian Opiaza of the Philippines, who was named 1st runner-up. Other runners-up included The Su Nain from Myanmar, Safietou Kabengele from France, and Talitha Hartmann from Brazil. Rachel’s journey began with her crowning as Miss Grand India 2024 at the Glamanand Supermodel India 2024 Finals in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on August 11. Her rise to international fame followed her selection as a finalist for the Miss Grand India pageant, organized by the Glamanand Group in May. Rachel first stepped into the global spotlight by winning the Miss Grand India title in 2022, showcasing her dedication and poise on the international stage.

This unique village, envisioned by former Chief Minister and noted writer Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, provides writers a serene and inspiring environment to focus on their creative pursuits. The launch event coincided with the ‘Sparsh Himalaya Mahotsav-2024,’ where Nishank’s book *Ram in the Himalayas* became the first work released from the Writers’ Village, marking a milestone in Uttarakhand’s support for literary arts.

Armenia led in acquiring Indian defense systems, including the Akash air defense missiles, Pinaka multi-launch rocket systems, and 155 mm artillery guns. Rising demand is also noted for BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, co-developed with Russia, following India’s $375 million deal with the Philippines in January 2022. Other ASEAN and Gulf nations have expressed interest in these precision-strike weapons, alongside India’s Dornier-228 aircraft, radars, and armored vehicles, marking a strong defense output of Rs 1.27 lakh crore.
